18th April 2013 – The sun is shining!

At last the sun is shining and we can start to appreciate our gardens once again.  It always surprises me how some plants survive our recent harsh winters.  There are a lot of herbaceous plants starting to show above ground now, their tiny shoots pushing through the soil, that has protected them these last few month.  They have survived but some of the evergreen plants i.e. choisya are showing signs of being damaged by the cold and frost as well as ceanothus.  However, just because something looks dead at the moment, it is worth leaving until about June, when the plant has had a full time...
